Debra McCarthy (Jarrett)

  March 15, 1955 - Feb. 20, 2021

Debra McCarthy Jarrett was born March 15, 1955 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to Haywood and Dorothy McCarthy. She graduated from North Forsyth High School, then went on to obtain her B.A. Degree in Education from Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina. From there she taught Home Economics at Parkland High School until her health failed.

Debra was preceded in death by both parents, Haywood and Dorothy McCarthy; and younger sister, Beverly Kaye McCarthy.

Debra accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful, dedicated, and active member of Goler Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church where she served on a number of committees.

Debra will be remembered as a wonderful, loving, and caring daughter, sister, family member, and friend.

Debra is survived by her cousins, Mary E. McArthur of Fayetteville, North Carolina, LaToya Gray and Jahiya Grooms both of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; along with a host of other cousins; special friends, Michael Harris, Tameka Henry, and Margretta Davis all of Winston Salem, North Carolina; other relatives and friends.

I am so sorry to hear about Debra's passing.  I remember that she use to pick me up in the mornings so I wouldn't have to catch the school bus.  Very smart and memorable.
