Judy Nelson's husband

Congratulations to EF '71 Doug Kiger - hubby of Judy Nelson. . Doug was honored at a banquet last night. I'm taking the liberty of sharing his comments about the evening. Our '73 classmate Nancy Hope needs to remind me how her parents were honored in having an annual award given to a worthy individual in their memory.
Doug's post:
I had an amazing night last night. I attended the Kernersville Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet at the Summerfield Farms. I enjoyed go...od conversations, saw several people who I had not seen lately, and eat great food. Curtis Swisher came up to present the Joan & Lee Hope Impact Award. Master of Ceremonies Tanya Rivera from WFMY News 2 started describing the individual who was to receive the award. I was listening and then I heard the words Kernersville Cares for Kids. I listened more intensely. Then... what came out of her mouth... was my name. You could have knocked me down with a feather. There were about 260 community driven people in that room. All who care about our community. Many of these individuals could have been selected for this award but my name was selected. It overwhelms me that the Chamber chose me over so many deserving others. It humbles me to be added to a list of individuals who have done so much for our community. This community has so many individuals who volunteer their time and efforts to make our community better. Thank you Kernersville Chamber of Commerce for your efforts to make Kernersville and surrounding area what it is today.
