Mike died from heart disease. Info below received 6/16/2010 from his EFHS '70 sister, Diane:
He died in Houston, Texas where he had lived at time of his death. He never married. He was 34 yrs. Our parents Robert and Pauline Tate deceased in 1978 and 1989 respectively. My brother obtained the rank of Sgt in the Army where he served for 6 years. He is buried at Houston Memorial Cementary in Veterans section.
Mike and I joined the army at the same time and went through basic and advanced training together. We were stationed in Ayer, Massachusetts for advanced training in the military intelligence field and spent many weekends going to Boston to have a little fun. We were the best of friends and I have often wondered what ever become of him and now that I have found out that he has passed I will regret that I never got back in touch with him. I will truly miss him and will always think fondly of the many adventures of two North Carolina boys in the big city of Boston.
