SUMMERFIELD - 7/15/1955 - 11/5/2016 Caswell Anthony "Tony" Mullins, 61, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2016 surrounded by family and his nurses at his home following a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) since 2003. Born July 15, 1955 in High Point, NC to Caswell Dallas "Moon" Mullins and Emalee Joyce Proctor Mullins, Tony was married to his high school sweetheart, Robin Gail Moody Mullins, for 42 amazing years. He is also survived by his sons, Caswell Alden Mullins and daughter-in-law, Laura Maute Mullins of Lansdale, PA, and Garrett Brandon Mullins and Miranda Collins of Greensboro, NC; granddaughters, Sadie Grace Mullins and Hazel Moon Mullins of Lansdale, PA; sister, Tonya Mullins Landreth, and brother in law, Tim Landreth of Madison, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Cathy Reavis of Summerfield, NC; nieces Jennifer Green and husband Shane Green of Clemmons, NC; Katey Tosto of Denver, CO, and Samantha Landreth of Madison, NC; nephews Samuel Tosto of Madison, NC and Kevin Reavis of Kernersville, NC, two great-nieces Emily Green and Riley Green of Clemmons, NC. Also surviving are honorable sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Steve Williams, Terri Tyler, and his faithful canine companion, Frazier. He is preceded in death by his father, Caswell Dallas "Moon" Mullins and granddaughter Presley Rose Mullins. An accomplished athlete and student, Tony graduated from Parkland High School in Winston-Salem in 1973 where he played baseball and football, and was scouted by the Atlanta Braves. A graduate of Elon University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Communications, he was a scholarship baseball player from 1973 until 1977 and was a member of Iota Tau Kappa Fraternity. After college, Tony became a dedicated and respected member of his community as a shared owner of WREV Radio in Reidsville, NC and where he served on the Board of Directors of MHR Broadcasting Company. A former Chairman of the Reidsville City Board of Education, member of the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, dedicated member and Chairperson of the United Way in Reidsville, and Reidsville Rotary Club member, he was selected for the Outstanding Young Men of America for Professional Achievement and Leadership in 1992. In addition to many additional philanthropic contributions, he was Senior Vice President of UBS Financial in Greensboro, NC, a member of the New York Stock Exchange, and the UBS Financial Pace Club. He was also a faithful member of Woodmont United Methodist Church in Reidsville, NC and an honorary member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC. Tony had a wonderful love for life and he never ceased to value the importance of friends and the joy of family. He was a devoted husband and his dedication as a father and son was priceless with his family being his pride in which he spoke of often. He was an avid golfer and baseball fan, and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Tony leaves behind fond memories and laughter that will sustain us as a family for a lifetime. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel, and other times at the family home.
